The Pod Playground, National Arboretum, Canberra

Description

Designed to challenge and excite, Pod Playground encourages children to climb, explore and have fun. Pod Playground is a unique and adventurous playground featuring giant acorn cubbies, nest swings and banksia pods, surrounded by spectacular views.

Pod Playground delights a variety of age groups. The giant acorn cubbies on stilts, connected by net tunnels and ending in a spiral slippery slide, suit older children (late primary and up), as does the large climbing net frame.

For younger children, Pod includes a single ladder leading into a single giant acorn cubbie with a normal-sized slide.

The middle area of Pod Playground caters for children with a range of ages, with two large nest swings and two toddler swings.

At the café end of the playground there is a wonderful area for toddlers with giant banksia cones, sand, and musical instruments.

The musical bridge appeals to all ages.
