Macquarie Harbour Coastal Clean-up – West Coast Tasmania
Description
Come to Macquarie Harbour on Tasmania’s rugged west coast, the home of the iconic Gordon River and an area with a rich and dramatic convict past.
Our team will be assisting the community to collect and sort marine debris from the beaches of the harbour in order to keep this area pristine. We will be operating in conjunction with local businesses, volunteer groups and community organisations and we will be designated our own beaches to clean up over the course of the project. All of the debris will be sorted and documneted in order to assess its origin which will assist in future debris management decisions.
Enjoy being part of a team that is making a real difference to the wild west of Tasmania, while also learning more about such an historic landmark of Australia.
Transport is provided from Launceston and Hobart on first and last days of the project. Partial bookings welcome, but you must make your own way to Strahan. Whilst on the west coast we’ll be staying at the Strahan Beach Tourist Park.
