Grampians National Park Naturewise Holiday

Description

The 168,000 hectare Grampians National Park is a vast wilderness area protecting a diversity of plants and animals, many of which are endemic to the park. We will take you behind the scenes on this exclusive, small group adventure as you work alongside a Parks Victoria Ranger to ‘track and protect’ the elusive Brush-tailed Phascogales, which are on Victoria’s threatened species list. You will take part in setting up remote camera monitoring equipment and collecting data, and in the process learn more about the animal’s natural habitat while making a direct contribution to the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas.

Day 1 Depart Melbourne for the Grampians National Park. Enjoy lunch and a briefing from the Parks Victoria Ranger on the wildlife and monitoring program. You will learn about the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas and threatened species management, and get a feel for the Grampians during an interpretative walk exploring the National Park. (LD)

Day 2 Start the day at 7am, for morning camera monitoring activities led by our local guide. Activities will include walking through bush land, reviewing camera data and recording information. Following the morning activity, lunch is enjoyed in the National Park. In the afternoon there is time to explore the park on guided bushwalks and at scenice lookout points. After a great day in the field enjoy dinner and time to relax back at our accommodation. (BLD)

Day 3 We return to our monitoring site to set up cameras in the National Park with our local guide. After lunch we say goodbye to this beautiful region and return to Melbourne arriving at 6pm. (BL)
