Discovery Brookfield Conservation Park and Native Wildlife of the Murray Mallee Region of South Australia
Description
You are invited to come and discover Brookfield Conservation Park in South Australia’s Murray Mallee region.
Take part in general park maintenance activities with a small team of adventurous volunteers who love to care for Australia’s native wildlife and bushland habitats.
You will help with removing invasive weeds that are potentially toxic if eaten by the native animals.
Once the weeds are removed the native plants can regenerate creating a healthy food source for the native animals.
Also help with maintenance of some of the walking trails and signage to ensure safe visitor access.
While you are working and staying in the park, do look out for wombats, grey kangaroos and red kangaroos, emus, lizards, a variety of honey-eaters, parrots and wrens, and other native wildlife.
The magnificent sunsets also provide awesome photo opportunities!
CVA manage Brookfield Conservation Park on behalf of the State Government – the first time a non-government organisation has cared for a Conservation Park under this arrangement. The Park is fast becoming a regional hub drawing in scientists, researchers, students and community all for the common purpose of preserving the landscape for the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat and associated wildlife.
Accommodation will be at the Scientific Camp which is located in the park and is used by Australian and international researchers.
Cost $120 for 4 days/3 nights ($90 concession)
Transport between Adelaide and Brookfield is provided by CVA, departing Adelaide at 8.00am on Monday and returning by 4.00pm on Friday.
Training, supervision and safety briefings are provided on the project by the CVA Team Leader.
A CVA Certificate of Appreciation is available on completion of the project.
