Darebin Community and Kite Festival, Reservoir

Description

Reservoir’s picturesque Edwardes Lake Park will once again host the perennial favourite, the Darebin Community and Kite Festival.
The 2016 event promises to be the most immersive festival yet, with a jam-packed day of fun, free, and engaging activities for all ages. The day will feature performances, workshops, community & food stalls, a pet expo, installations, roving entertainment, and of course, kite flying!

There will be plenty of fun for children and families alike, ranging from kite-making, circus and face painting workshops, to shadow puppetry, a superhero obstacle course, and a main stage performance by award-winning circus comedy artists Trash Test Dummies.

For the first time the Festival will also present a storytelling tent and conversation corner, featuring some of the city’s best writers and illustrators, as well as opportunities for kids to create their own stories.

Useful Information

The music program will be headlined by Iranian-born Darebin local Neda, leading her ensemble in performing the Afro-Brazilian beats and high-energy dance numbers of the All Colour Project. Other music highlights include the Horns of Leroy, 2015 National Indigenous Music award-winner Philly, and a Freeza youth music stage showcasing emerging Darebin musicians.
