Beach Marine Debris Clean-up in Port Douglas
Description
Each month Conservation Volunteers partner up with Tangaroa Blue to conduct marine debris surveys along one of the most famous, and definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in the region – Four Mile Beach in the tranquil surroundings of Port Douglas. We will be walking along the beach, collecting all pieces of debris, big and small, and later recording them for research purposes
We require volunteers to help us keep this beach in its pristine condition by helping to remove Marine Debris washed up on its shoreline. On the day, we will be walking along this famous beach and collecting various elements of marine debris that have washed up on shore – these items can range from something as small as cigarette butts (which have a big impact!) to larger items like pieces of boat wreckage.
We will then count and record this information for research purposes to be inputted into the Australian Marine Debris Database, to help us better understand one of the major threats provided to the Great Barrier Reef. Come along and meet some new faces!

Useful Information
Wearing the right Personal Protective gear is very important on our projects,for the safety and comfort of everyone involved!
Please make sure you wear long sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, hat, heavy duty enclosed shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent. We will have extra sunscreen and insect repellent available.
Please bring lunch/snacks and a water bottle. We will have extra water available for you to refill your bottle if required.
