Bandicoot Night Watch – Naturewise Experience, Woodlands Historic Park

Description

Woodlands Historic Park  comes to life at dusk with kangaroos, wallabies, possums and other wildlife springing into action. We will be looking out for the Eastern Barred Bandicoots and learning about the program to save them from extinction. We start the evening with a light dinner under the stars before heading out in search of local nocturnal wildlife.  Afterwards enjoy a hot drink at Gellibrand Hill, overlooking the night lights of Melbourne City.

Did you know it only takes 12.5 days for a bandicoot to be born? Sadly, the Eastern Barred Bandicoot is now considered extinct in Victoria’s wild due to predation and loss of habitat. You will be helping Parks Victoria and Conservation Volunteers save the species from extinction at Woodlands Historic Park. Learn about the Eastern Barred Bandicoot in its natural habitat and assist our conservation experts in collecting and analysing data captured on remote cameras. This is an opportunity to experience the endangered species program at Woodlands in its best element – under the stars!
