Family Day at Woodlands Historic Park

Description

Enjoy a morning of fun and education learning about your critically endangered neighbour the Eastern Barred Bandicoot.

With the support of Melbourne Airport and Parks Victoria, Conservation Volunteers Australia has established a 300 hectare protected and predator-proof habitat for the critically endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot, one of Victoria’s most endangered mammals. Located on Melbourne Airport’s back doorstep, community members and volunteers have worked tirelessly during the past four years to repair, install and maintain a predator-proof fence at Woodlands Historic Park.

With 47 lucky critters released in 2012 the Park now supports a healthy population that continues to grow.

Conservation Volunteers Australia and Melbourne Airport welcomes you, your family and friends to a morning  full of fun activities such as bait rolling for future monitoring sessions, monitoring camera traps and a walk and talk tour around the park.

With the species currently listed as extinct in the wild, your assistance is essential to the Eastern Barred Bandicoot’s recovery so they can bounce back from the brink of extinction!

Meet us on site at Woodlands Historic Park at 9am, and the day will conclude by 12pm.

In line with the age limitations that apply to CV insurance cover, you must be 7 years of age and above to participate in the project. Anyone between the age 7 and 14 years must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian.
