Wombat Mange Monitoring – Freycinet National Park
Description
We have partnered with the University of Tasmania (UTAS), DPIPWE and the State Government to monitor wild wombat populations for the presence of sarcoptic mange because while we know that mange is a major problem for some wombat populations, there has been little consistent monitoring for mange prevalence across the State.
At each selected site, volunteers will carry out visual surveys (afternoon and night) to establish numbers of wombats and presence of mange; this will be done multiple times to gather reliable data.
This project will be undertaken around Freycinet / Coles Bay. Volunteers will monitor on a number of sites both public and private properties. With stellar views, clear water and great natural assets, what is not to love about this area? Volunteers will be camping in the National Park for this project.

Useful Information
This is a camping trip, so you must be available from 11am on Friday 23rd of March until 3pm on Sunday 25th March.
Surveys will be conducted between 5pm and 10.30pm.
You will need to bring:
Sleeping bag, pillow, warm clothes, waterproof jacket, head torch, long pants, long sleeved top, hat, beanie, sturdy enclosed footwear, snacks and a water bottle.
