Plant trees to restore the iconic Murrumbidgee River, NSW
Description
The Murrumbidgee River is a beautiful and iconic river in the mountains. You’ll be weeding and planting to restore this beautiful ecosystem. It will be a great experience and we’d love you to join us!
The Upper Murrumbidgee Demonstration Reach (UMDR) is approximately 100 km long and runs from Bredbo in NSW to Casuarina Sands in the ACT. Roughly half its length lies in NSW and half in the ACT. Water in the reach is used for ecological, rural, urban and recreational purposes.
The upper Murrumbidgee River is a high value riverine ecosystem containing the critical aquatic habitats of several nationally listed threatened species (notably Trout cod, Murray cod and Macquarie perch). The UMDR project is all about improving fish habitat and river health in this vitally important waterway.
The next dates for this project are Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th of August.
What you can expect:
-planting
-beautiful river landscapes
-helping conserve an important river ecosystem
