Australian Alps Walking Track Project Omeo Area

Description

Join your Conservation Volunteers Australia team in Australia’s magnificent Alpine National Park helping to maintain sections of the 650 km Australian Alps Walking Track.

The track climbs our highest mountains and crosses exposed high plains. It passes through magnificent tall forests and stunted snow gum woodlands, and discovers sites rich in history.

Grade: Medium to Hard.

The project includes track clearing, brushcutting, track instalation and track marking in the beautiful Eastern Alps around the Omeo region.

We are looking for very fit, strong and experienced remote camping people (no toilets or showers) that are able walk several kilometres carrying approximately 10kg of equipment and operate an 8kg bladed brush cutter or use a rake hoe or mattock throughout each day for five days.

If you love the high country and would like to play a part in maintaining our iconic Australian Alps Walking Track we would love to hear from you.

Due to the physical requirements of this fantastic project, we cannot take direct website bookings and will need to speak with you to discuss your placement on the project.

*Please note this project will require you to have suitable outdoor clothing for the Alps environment that we need to verify.

The project departs Bendigo on Sunday March 22 at 9am and arrives back in Bendigo on Saturday March 28 at approximately 1pm. Alternatively interested volunteers can meet the team at Falls Creek Resort by prior arrangement.

To express your interest and discuss different aspects of the project, call Adam today in our Bendigo Office on 03 54440777, 0427 507 004 or email asmolak@conservationvolunteers.com.au
